Week 3

So after a lot of research on the gender equality topic, I still wasn't feeling the passion and drive necessary for this project. So I started to just research education in general  and I found I'm really interested in how financial literacy and money management skills are not taught in depth at school and how parents have a huge role in their children's financial literacy.  The transition period from financially depending on parents to becoming independent is an important part of being a young adult so I am really interested in exploring how design could facilitate this subject.  I had a light bulb moment and finally felt certain about something. I can see myself exploring this topic for a whole year and I'm ready to commit to it. It still needs narrowing down but this is a great start and a wave of relief has come over me.  Karl suggested I make two ‘piles’ of research. One pile of all you can find about how design can educate. Don't worry about *w...

Week 2

Still stressed and uncertain about what I should do. I did a little ven diagram to really nail what I could see myself committing to for a year and came up with 4 issues. I then thought it would be a good idea to do a sticky note diagram on the wall so I can mull it over and think about it every time I look. I have the most sticky notes in the gender equality section so I am leaning towards this topic. I needed to brainstorm each of the ideas within the gender equality section and see which one I am most passionate about. I'm most interested in how can communication design challenge the way gender inequality is talked about to encourage communication between young adults. I'll explore this through education and awareness about sexism and female empowerment. this could fit in the education or community category. I brought it up in class today and Karl pointed out a valid opinion that everyone is aware of sexism and gender inequality and it would be more int...

Week 1

My final year has begun! I'm feeling very excited but also extremely terrified.  In the first class, we got introduced to the proposal brief and topic categories. I am unsure which one I want to do and would rather decide on my topic and see which category it fits into.  I started to brainstorm possible ideas for what I enjoy doing or things I'm interested in. This ended up in a hearty list.  I have always be interested in advertising so an advertising campaign (transmedia) project could be a good idea. I have to think about what I want a job doing in the future and a cause I am passionate about or something I  enjoy. What interests me - Advertising/marketing/branding  - Social habits and behaviours - Make life easier for people - Type and editorial  - Food  - photography  - Morag Myerscough - Social media -       Sleeping  water swimming stress management  snowflake gene...
